Cross Country Skiing

Okay, finally I can say hard work has paid off. Last year, I made a rather silly investment in cross country skies. I rented them once, loved it and then shelled out the cash to get my own. Well, then I hated it! It was bloody hard!

But I took another lesson on the weekend, and it wasn't painful. In fact, it was actually fun. These mountains that used to stress me out, were little tiny hills! And I actually could get going instead of shuffling along. It was amazing!

And on anther note! I have officially raise $1200! Only $4900 to go! The most amazing thing is the support I have been getting from people. Really, after getting some of the donations that I have got, there is no way I can't do this now. I have finish otherwise I will be letting them down!

New fundraiser!

I've officially reached the 10 per cent mark on my fundraising! Only $5490 to go! What a ridiculous thing to get my self into. But as you can see from the baskets on the side, I am now selling Valentine's baskets. They're $35 and are either a basket of honey-based skin care products or a basket of honey and honey-based edible products and candles. And they come in a beautifully decorated basket. Please let me know if you're interested. Deadline for orders is February 9th!

What was that?

Oh! I think my toe just frooze off.

Running in the cold is a crazy, crazy activity. So why was I then running like Randy in "A Christmas Story" at 8:30 on Saturday morning? You remember! He's the little brother that is so bundled up in the red snow suit that he can't put his arms down.

And just incase I didn't learn my lesson, I was back out doing five kms on Saturday with the temperature a whooping -28 Celcius without the windchill.

There's something in Canadian's blood that just won't admit defeat. At least in Western Canada . . . we just cannot admit that our idiot forefathers and foremothers settled in one of the crappiest weather places EVER! Oh we always say at least there aren't tsunamies or hurricanes or earthquakes or really dangerous weather. HELLO! Did you happen to hear about the worst blizzard in 50 years hitting Saskatoon this week? If that wasn't dangerous, then what is? Apparently running in artic temperatures isn't dangerous??? Ahhh . . . at least there is this old excuse: Well, it might be -40 below but at least we have sunshine. Yeah. So does California.

I'm such an ass!

Okay, it was 6:02 p.m. on Tuesday when I decided I should go online and check to see where my uni class was. Yeah . . . it started at 6 p.m. so I frantically grab my stuff and race over to Campbell High School, where class is being held for some reason. I get there at 6:15, barge in and realize why it's happening at Campbell: It's a class for high school kids to get a jump on their university credits! I am easily 10 years older than everyone in class, and I am thinking that I need to check the professor's birth certificate too. There are a total of three "real" university students in the class!

But my sad story doesn't end there! As I grab my handouts and sink down in a desk at the back of the class, I look down at my bunny hug (for my faithful readers outside of Saskatchewan, that's a hoodie). I had made some really good chocolate pudding for supper. So good that I apparently needed to bring it with me because I had it all down my arm and right side of my body. It looked like BLOOD! It was so gross!

Pass the honey, honey

So when I was growing up, there was a fun girl that I was friends with. Annelle was crazy funny, and one of the things she used to say was:

Pass the honey, Honey

Pass the sugar, Sugar

Pass the tea, BAG!

I sometimes reflect on how I could be so much smarter if valuable brain space wasn't wasted on things like remembering every word to a Rick Astley song or things like the above.

But anyway, I have straight-from the farm honey for sale as part of my Team Diabetes fundraising. Cost is $5 for 500 grams or for the honey bears, and $9 for 1000 grams. Post a message if you'd like some.

I am also offering (and this is amazing) to voluntarily spend time at SarCan. If you don't want to recycle your cans and bottles, I will pick them up, sort them and the money will all goes to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Again, post a message if you've got some that you're looking to get rid of.
